Automatic Registration - Overview
Automatic Registration allows you to simplify the installation of software components when you have multiple client computers and more than one CommServe running in your environment.
Using Automatic Registration, you can deploy the same installation package to multiple computers, and each can be made to automatically register with the appropriate CommServe of your choice. The list of clients to be installed can be administered from a web interface.
How does it work?
When you have multiple client computers and more than one CommServe running in your environment, the installation process can be simplified as follows:
Setup a Master CommServe that will serve as a central location maintaining complete information about the available target CommServe as well as the potential client computers to be installed in your environment. You need to create a Custom install package that can be deployed to multiple client computers.
Using a web interface, administrator can associate client computers to the target CommServe, client group, and policies. Once the install is finished on the client using the single customized package, it will be able to retrieve its own saved configuration from the Master CommServe and use this information to register itself with the designated target CommServe automatically.
