CommCell Migration - Configuring Firewall Settings

About The Task

To enable the migrated client separated by a firewall to communicate with the destination CommServe, configure and push the firewall settings from the destination CommServe to the migrated client.

Procedure

To configure the firewall settings on the destination CommServe, do the following:

  1. In the destination CommCell, navigate to the CommCell Browser.
  2. Right-click the CommServe_name > Properties.
    The CommCell Properties dialog box is displayed.
  3. On the Firewall Configuration tab, select the Configure Firewall Settings check box.
  4. On the Incoming Connections tab, click Add.
    The Connections to dialog box is displayed.
  5. From the From list, select the migrated_client name.
  6. From the State list, select RESTRICTED, and click OK.
  7. Click the Incoming Ports tab.
  8. In the Listen for tunnel connections on port setting, select the port number on which the incoming tunnel connection is received. 
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click OK to close the CommCell Properties dialog box.
    You have now configured firewall settings on the destination CommServe.
  11. Navigate to the CommCell Browser.
  12. Right-click the CommServe_name > All Tasks > Push Firewall Configuration.
    A warning message is displayed.
  13. Click Continue.
  14. Click OK to close the message box.
    You have now pushed the firewall settings on the destination CommServe.

To configure the firewall settings on the migrated client, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the CommCell Browser.
  2. Expand Client Computers > migrated_client_name > Properties.
    The Client Computer Properties dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. On the Firewall Configuration tab, select the Configure Firewall Settings check box.
  5. On the Incoming Connections tab, click Add.
    The Connections to dialog box is displayed.
  6. From the From list, select the destination CommServe_name.
  7. From the State list, select RESTRICTED, and click OK.
  8. Click the Incoming Ports tab.
  9. In the Listen for tunnel connections on port setting, select the port number on which the incoming tunnel connection is received.
  10. Click OK to close the Client Computer Properties dialog box.
  11. Right-click the CommServe_name > All Tasks > Push Firewall Configuration.
    A warning message is displayed.
  12. Click Continue.
  13. Click OK to close the message box.
    You have now configured firewall settings on the migrated client.
