Configuring Disaster Recovery Backups

You can run disaster recovery (DR) backups to back up the CommServe database and Workflow Engine database (if installed with the CommServe software).

By default, a full DR backup is performed daily. If you need frequent DR backups or if the backup time is longer, you can schedule differential DR backups at frequent intervals in a day. Differential DR backups back up only that data that has changed since the last full backup. This backup is smaller in size and takes less time to complete.

In the event of a disaster, you can build a new CommServe host and restore the CommServe database from the latest DR backup.

Note: To speed up the recovery process, you can stage an alternate CommServe host at a remote location that is readily available for disaster recovery implementation.

To set up and run DR backups, complete the following tasks:

  1. Configure the disaster recovery backup export destination.
  2. Configure the storage policy for disaster recovery.
  3. Perform a disaster recovery backup of the production CommServe database.
