Full System Recovery of Notes Database: Restoring the Notes Database

Recover the entire file system data to the same or different client in the event of a disaster.

Before You Begin

  1. Rebuilding the Operating System
  2. Restoring the IBM Domino Application

Use the Disaster Recovery option only when the current log file is irretrievably lost. Do not modify or delete the contents of the transaction log directory unless you are sure that disaster recovery is necessary.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers | <Client> | Notes Database.
  2. Right-click the <Instance>, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.
  3. Click View Content.
  4. In the right pane of the Browse window, click the <Instance> and select all databases.
  5. Click Recover All Selected.
  6. Select Unconditional Overwrite. Click Advanced.
  7. Select the Disaster recover/Media recovery (to another machine) box and click OK.
  8. You can monitor the progress of the restore job in the Job Controller.
  9. Once the restore job has completed, right-click the agent or <instance>, point to View and click Restore History. Click OK.
  10. You can view the following details about the job by right-clicking the job:
    • View Restore Items

      You can view them as Successful, Failed, Skipped or All.

    • View Job Details
    • View Events of the restore job
    • View Paths
    • Resubmit the restore job

What To Do Next

Once the database is restored, verify that the restored database and log files are available in the original location.
