Prerequisites

Login credentials are required to access the Cloud Services site. If you do not have login credentials, contact your Account Representative to request a temporary account.

Collecting Data - NetBackup

To collect data from your backup vendor, you must run the script that you downloaded.

To collect NetBackup data from a Unix machine:

  1. Extract the edc_nbu ZIP file, and then copy the edc_nbu.sh script and SQL folder.
  2. Paste the edc_nbu.sh script and SQL folder into any directory on the NetBackup server.
  3. On the command line, type the following command to make the script executable:

    chmod755*.sh

  4. Run the following command:

    edc_nbu.sh

    The output files are saved into the specified directory. The default location is /tmp/nbdata.

  5. If you have not already done so, log into the Cloud Services site. For instructions, see Logging into Cloud Services EDC.
  6. Click the NBU tab.
  7. Click Upload Now.

    The Upload Files dialog box appears.

  8. In the Company box, enter the name of your organization, and then click Add Files.
  9. In the Choose file to upload box, enter the location of the ZIP output file.
  10. Click Submit.

Collecting Data - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)

  1. Copy the edc_tsm.sh script.
  2. Paste the edc_tsm.sh script into the Tivoli Storage Manager server baclient directory. For example:

    /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin64

  3. On the command line, type the following command to make the script executable:

    chmod755*.sh

  4. Run the following command:

    /edc_tsm.sh <TSM_login_id> <TSM_login_password> <TSM_server_name> <Output_Directory>

    For example:

    #/edc_tsm.sh admin1 adminpswd1 TivoliServer1 /temp

    Once the command is executed, an edc_data.tar file is created in the specified directory.

  5. If you have not already done so, log into the Cloud Services site. For instructions, see Logging into Cloud Services EDC.
  6. Click the TSM tab.
  7. Click Upload Now.

    The Upload Files dialog box appears.

  8. In the Company box, enter the name of your organization, and then click Add Files.
  9. In the Choose file to upload box, enter the location of the ZIP output file.
  10. Click Submit.

Collecting Data - EMC Networker

  1. Copy the edc_networker.sh script, and then paste the edc_networker.sh script into any directory.
  2. Open the command line and run this command to convert files into UNIX format:

    #dos2unix -n old_script_name new_script_name

    For example:

    #dos2unix -n edc_networker.sh edc_networker_unix.sh

  3. Run this command to make the script executable:

    #chmod755*.sh

  4. Run this command to create a directory for the collected data:

    #./edc_networker.sh/Output_Directory

    For example:

    #./edc_networker.sh/temp

  5. If you have not already done so, log into the Cloud Services site.

  6. Click the EMC Networker tab.
  7. Click Upload Now.

    The Upload Files dialog box appears.

  8. In the Company box, enter the name of your organization, and then click Add Files.
  9. In the Choose file to upload box, enter the location of the ZIP output file.
  10. Click Submit.
