Backup Job Summary Report - Online Help

General

Use this tab to select the filter criteria to generate job summary reports (either data management, data recovery, or administrative reports).  For a scheduled job summary report, you can use this tab to modify filter options that have already been selected, or to select additional filter options.

The individual filter criteria are listed and explained below.

All Jobs

Includes data management, data recovery, and administrative jobs in the report.

Data Management Jobs

Allows you to select data management filter criteria, in addition to View Type filters, to generate data management job summary reports.

Backup

The Calendar Backup Job Summary Report and the Backup Job Summary Report, provide a summary of data management jobs based on the selected  filter criteria.

Archive/Compliance Archive

The Calendar Archive/Compliance Archive Job Summary Report and the Archive/Compliance Archive Job Summary Report provide a summary of archive jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

ContinuousDataReplicator

The ContinuousDataReplicator Replication Job Summary Report provides replication pair statistics, including failures, and details for each recovery point job.

Silo Archiver

The Silo Archive Job Summary Report provides a summary of silo backup jobs moving data to silo storage.

Data Recovery Jobs

Allows you to select data recovery filter criteria to generate data recovery job summary reports.

Browse and Restore

The  Restore Job Summary Report provides a summary of data recovery jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Recovery/Retrieve

The  Recovery/Retrieve Job Summary Report provides a summary of DataArchiver recovery jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

OSSV Volume Recovery

The  OSSV Volume Recovery Job Summary Report provides a summary of OSSV Recovery jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

CDR Recovery

The ContinuousDataReplicator Copyback Job Summary Report provides a summary of client copyback operations for a specified time period; failure reasons and associated events; and status and throughput unit of each job.

Stub Recall

The Stub Recall Summary Report provides a summary of stub recall history based on the selected filter criteria.

Search Restore

The Search Restore Summary Report provides a summary of search restore jobs for each client.

Silo Retrieve

The Silo Restore Job Summary Report provides a summary of the restore jobs retrieving data from silo storage.

Administrative  Jobs

Allows you to select administrative filter criteria to generate administrative job summary reports.

Includes data management, data recovery, and administrative jobs in the report.

Disaster Recovery Backup

The  Disaster Recovery Backup Job Summary Report provides a summary of Disaster Recovery backup jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Auxiliary Copy

The Auxiliary Copy Job Summary Report provides a summary of all auxiliary copy jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Data Aging

The Data Aging Job Summary Report provides a summary of all data aging jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Data Verification

The Data Verification Job Summary Report provides a summary of all data verification jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Catalog Media Job Summary

The Catalog Media Job Summary Report provides a summary of all catalog media jobs based on the selected filter criteria.

Download Software

The Download Software Job Summary Report provides a summary of all download update jobs executed based on the selected filter criteria.

Install/Remove Updates

The Install/Remove Updates Job Summary Report provides a summary of all install update jobs run based on the selected filter criteria.

Install/Upgrade/Remove/Repair Software

The Install/Upgrade/Remove/Repair Software Job Summary Report provides a summary of all install/upgrade/remove software jobs run based on the selected filter criteria.

Offline Content Indexing

The Offline Content Indexing Job Summary Report provides a summary of offline content indexing jobs for each client.

Backup Copy Work Flow

The Backup Copy Job Summary Report provides a summary of the snap to media jobs for each client.

Disk Library Maintenance

The Disk Library Maintenance Summary Report provides the results of fragmentation analysis on the disk library.

Information Management

The Information Management Job Summary Report provides details of all the jobs run under selected set of criteria.

Erase Backup/Archived Data

The EraseBackup/Archived Data Job Summary Report provides a summary of backed up or archived data that has been erased and is no longer available for recovery.

Media Refreshing

This Media Refresh Job Summary Report provides a summary of the media refresh jobs that replaced the media associated with an existing storage policy copy.

CommCell Export

This CommCell Export Job Summary Report provides a summary of CommCell Migration/Export jobs.

CommCell Import

This CommCell Import Job Summary Report provides a summary of CommCell Migration/Import jobs.

Reconstruct Dedupe Database

This Reconstruct Dedupe Database Job Summary Report provides a summary of the snap to media jobs for each client.

VM Management

This VM Management Job Summary Report provides a summary of the virtual machine management jobs for each client.

Virtualize Me

This Virtualize Me Job Summary Report provides a summary of Virtualize Me jobs according to the selected filter criteria.

Send Log Files

The Send Log Files Job Summary Report provides a summary of Send Log File jobs according to the selected filter criteria.

Reports

The Reports Job Summary Report provides a summary of Report jobs according to the selected filter criteria.

EDC Discovery

The EDC Discovery Job Summary Report provides a summary of EDC Discovery jobs according to the selected filter criteria.

View Type

Allows you to select the view type for a Backup Job Summary Report or a Archive Job Summary Report.

Calendar

Allows you to generate a Calendar Backup Job Summary Report or a Calendar Archive/Compliance Archive Job Summary Report based on the selected data management filter criteria.

Detailed

Allows you to generate a Backup Job Summary Report or an Archive/Compliance Archive Job Summary Report, based on the selected data management filter criteria.

Job ID

Allows you to generate a Backup Job Summary Report for a specific job, when you enter the job ID.

Jobs with Description

When selected, it displays job descriptions saved by the user while initiating, scheduling, and running a job.

Group By

Based on type of data management or data recovery operation selected, this option allows you to group the report information by Agent, Client, Client Group, Job ID, or Storage Policy.

  • Agent: lists jobs alphabetically by Agent name
  • Client: lists jobs alphabetically by Client name
  • Client Group: lists jobs alphabetically by Client Group name
  • Job ID: lists jobs in descending order by job ID
  • Storage Policy: lists jobs alphabetically by storage policy name

Computers

Use this tab to select the client computers, client computer groups, and/or agents to be included in the report.  Not all fields apply to all Job Summary reports. For a scheduled job summary report, you can use this tab to modify filter options that have already been selected, or to select additional filter options.

Client/Agent

Allows you to specify computer and agent types.

Computers

Allows you to select the client computers and/or client computer groups whose operations will appear in the report.

Modify

Click this button to include or exclude client computers and/or client computer groups from the Client Computers list on the Select Clients/Client Groups dialog box.

Select Clients/Client Groups

  • Include All Client Computers

    Includes all client computers and/or client computer groups within the CommCell in the report.

  • Exclude

    Displays a list of all client computers and/or client computer groups to be excluded from the Client Computers list in the report.

  • Include

    Displays a list of all client computers and/or client computer groups to be included in the Client Computers list in the report.

Agent Types

Allows you to select the agents whose operations will appear in the report.

Modify

Click this button to include or exclude agents from the Agent Types list on the Select Agent Types dialog box.

Select Agent Types

  • Include All Agent Types

    Includes all agents within the CommCell in the report 

  • Exclude

    Displays a list of all agents to be excluded from the Agent Types list in the report.

  • Include

    Displays a list of all agents to be included in the Agent Types list in the report.

Subclient

Allows you to select a particular client, agent, instance, backup set, or subclient that will appear in the report. This is useful if subclients are monitored by a particular group of personnel who are only interested in generating a report for their area of responsibility.  

View

Click this tab to view what has been selected in the Edit tab.

Edit

Click this tab to select individual clients, agents, instances, backup sets, or subclients that you are interested in. Once selected, they are displayed in the View tab. Click Select All to select all components or Clear All to deselect the selected components.

Selection

Use this tab to select additional filter options for the report.  For a job summary report that is scheduled, you can use this tab to modify filter options that have already been selected, or to select additional filter options.

Diagnostic

Failure Reason

Includes a description of the failure reason why an operation went into a waiting or pending state, or failed. Reasons may include media reservation issues, application specific errors, library drive issues, network issues, and/or job manager issues.

Job Attempts

Includes job attempt information in the report (for Data Management Operations Only).

Associated Events

Includes all the events associated with each operation in the report.

Contents

Subclient Content

Includes the subclient content that is being protected.

Subclient Filters

Includes any filters and filter exceptions that were used during the job.

Content Indexing Failures

Includes the objects that have failed content indexing.

Protected Objects

Includes the objects that have been backed up in the report. If you do not want to include a list of protected objects, then clear this check box. If you select 0, then the first 100 protected objects appear.

Failed Objects

Includes the objects that have failed to be protected/recovered/retrieved in the report. For Oracle, this includes output from Oracle's Recovery Manager (RMAN).

Limit Number of Objects To

Becomes available when you select Protected Objects or Failed Objects. Specifies the maximum number of protected and failed objects that appear in the report.

Storage

Associated Media

Includes the media used for each operation in the report.

Drive

Includes the drive information related to the job in the report.

Storage Policy

Includes the storage policies associated with the subclients that were protected in the report.

MediaAgents

The MediaAgents that are associated with the job in the report.

Job Information

Job Options

Includes the options that were selected for each operation in the report.

Description

Displays the job description assigned by the user while initiating, scheduling and running a job.

Initiating User

Includes the CommCell user that initiated the operation in the report.

Include Client Description

Includes the description that is configured in the Client Properties dialog box for each job in the report.

Advanced

Aged Data

Includes data that have been pruned in the report.

Include Backup Copy/Catalog Snapshot Jobs

Includes backup copy or catalog snapshot jobs, depending on the client settings in the report.

Include Media Deleted Jobs

Includes jobs that have been deleted from storage media in the report.

Include Snap Backup Jobs Only

Includes only SnapProtect backup jobs in the report.

Include Protected VMs

Displays virtual machines that were included in the job.

Include Reference Copy Job Details

When selected, displays detailed information for each reference copy job.

Include Backup Copy Jobs Only

When selected, displays only information for each backup copy job in the Details table.

Include Archived PSTs

When selected, displays information for backup jobs that ran on subclients configured to archive Personal Storage Table (.pst) files.

Include Clients with Disabled Activity

When selected, displays information for clients that were disabled during the specified time range.

Include Deconfigured Clients

When selected, displays information for deconfigured clients in the Details table.

For each subclient show only

  • Coverage

    Includes all jobs run after a successful operation for each subclient. Jobs that failed prior to the successful operation are not included.

  • Latest Trend

    Includes the last job for each subclient.

Include Jobs With Failed Items Only

Includes only jobs that contain items that failed to back up.

  • Jobs With Failed Items More than

    Includes only jobs that contain more than the number of failed items that you specify in the box. For example, if you enter 3, only jobs with 3 or more failed items appear in the report.

Options

Use this tab to select the options to be included in the report. Not all fields apply to all operation types.  For a scheduled job summary report, you can use this tab to modify filter options that have already been selected, or to select additional filter options.

Backup Types

Allows you to select the types of backup operations to display in the report. Choose among the following:

All

Includes all backup operations for all backup types in the report.

Full

Includes full backup operations in the report.

Incremental

Includes incremental and SQL transaction log backup operations in the report.

Differential

Includes differential backup operations in the report.

Synthetic Full

Includes synthetic full backup operations in the report.

Automated System Recovery

     Includes automated system recovery operations in the report.

Job Status

Allows you to select the types of Job Status to display in the report.

All

Includes backup operations with all types of job status in the report.

Completed

Includes operations that completed in the report.

Failed

Includes operations that were system killed, failed, and failed to start in the report.

Killed

Includes operations that were user killed in the report.

Active

Includes operations that are currently active in the Job Controller, in the report.

Delayed

Includes operations that are delayed in the report.

Completed with errors

Includes operations that completed with errors in the report.

Completed with Warnings

Includes operations that completed with warnings in the report.

No Schedule

Includes subclients that were not scheduled for a backup during the specified time period.

No Run

Includes operations that were not run, for example, another job running for the same subclient, disabled job activity, or disabled scheduler.

Throughput Unit

Allows you to select the throughput, also known as the transferred rate, to be displayed in the report as either GB/Hour or MB/Second.

Size Unit

  • Allows you to define the report's data size unit in either GB or MB.
  • It is recommended that you select the data size unit. In case the size unit is not selected; for the HTML output format, the data sizes will be displayed in mixed sizes and for the Text output format, the data sizes will be displayed in bytes.
  • When the Protected Objects option is checked on the Selection tab, then all the data sizes in the report, including the protected objects, will be displayed in the same data size unit as specified on the Options tab.

Show Most Frequent Errors

Allows you to select the number of most frequent errors that will appear in the report. For example, if you enter 5, then the top 5 most frequent errors will appear in the report.

Job Time

Allows you to generate Job Summary reports where the data reflects either the CommServe time zone or the time zone of each Client in the CommCell. The Administrative Job Summary reports will only display the CommServe time zone.

Data Size

Allows you to select the data size of the data protection job to display in the report.

Increase in Data size by

Select if data protection job is at least n% larger in data size than the previous data protection job of the same type (full, incremental, differential, or synthetic full). Default is set at 10%.

Decrease in Data size by

Select if data protection job is at least n% smaller in data size than the previous data protection job of the same type (full, incremental, differential, or synthetic full). Default is set at 10%.

Jobs Retained By

Allows you to display jobs based on data aging retention rules.  Choose one or more among the following:

All

Select to display all jobs that follow all types of retention rules.

Basic Retention

Select to display jobs that follow basic retention rules.  Basic retention rules are defined by retention time and retention cycles. These parameters determine how much data is retained and for how long. Most agents follow basic retention rules.

Extended Retention

Select to display jobs that follow extended retention rules. Extended retention rules are defined in terms of weeks, months, and years. This enables you to retain data for a much longer period of time than with Basic Retention Rules.

Time Range

Use this tab to select the time ranges in which to include in the report.

For Job Summary reports only, jobs that meet the following criteria will be included in the report:  jobs that started and/or ended within the specified time period, jobs that were started within the specified time period and that are still active, and jobs that were active during the specified time period.

Last

Allows you to determine which events/jobs/backups/media should be included in the report based on a "Last" time period, for example, the last 24 Hours (default) or the last 3 days.

Select Date/Time

The View From and View To options allow you to select which events/jobs/backups/media should be included in the report based on the time range within the specified time zone.

Time Zone

Allows you to select a time zone.

Note: The output of the report displays the data based on the CommServe time zone.

View From

Allows you to select the earliest events/jobs/backups/media to be included in the report.

First Event/First Job/First Backup/Start

Includes events/jobs/backups/media starting with the earliest available in the report.

Events On/Jobs On/Backups On/Select Start Time

Includes events/jobs/backups/media that were initiated/written to and/or read to at or after the time selected in the report.

View To

Allows you to select the latest event/job/backup/media be included in the report.

Last Event/Last Job/Last Backup/End

Includes events/jobs/backups/media through the latest available in the report.

Events On/Jobs On/Backups On/Select End Time

Includes event/jobs/backups/media that were completed/written to and/or read to at or before the time selected in the report.

Output

Use this tab to select the output format and save options of the report.

Output Format: HTML

Generates and/or saves the report in HTML format.

Full

Generates and/or saves the report in its entirety. (Job Summary reports only.)

Summary Only

Generates and/or saves the report summary. (Data Protection reports only.)

Output Format: Text

Generates and/or saves the report in text format.

Text Delimiter

Generates and/or saves the report in a text format with tabs or commas. (CommCell Summary, CommCell Readiness, Job Summary, Media Information and Vault Tracking reports only.)

  • Tab

    Generates and/or saves the report in a text format with tabs.

  • Comma

    Generates and/or saves the report in a text format with commas.

PDF

Generates and/or saves the report in PDF format.

XML

Generates and/or saves the report in xml format. (Job Summary and Media Information reports only.)

Output To

Saves the report to a specified location.

Impersonate User

Displays the user name of the account.

User Name/Password

Allows you to change the user account from the Change User Account dialog box.

  • Change User Account Dialog Box

    Use this dialog box to enter or change the user account associated with the operation that is being performed, as applicable for the agent type:

    • Use This Account

      Click to change the user account.

    • Domain Name

      Use the space to type the name of the Active Directory domain for the user or mailbox.

    • User Name

      The user account that will be used to access the operating system, application, or network path.

    • Password

      Use the space to type the password for the User Account.

    • Confirm Password

      Use the space to re-type the password for confirmation.

Use Local Drive On

Saves the report to a client on the CommServe. From the drop down menu, select a  client and click Browse to specify a Report Copy Location. Username and password is not required.

Use Network Share

Saves the report to a location on a network. Click Browse to specify a Report Copy Location. Username and password may be required.

Report Copy Location

Type or click Browse to specify a local or network location to save the report. If the file name for the report is not provided, the system automatically provides a name for the report when it is saved.

Browse

Allows you to browse to a network path that is displayed in Report Copy Location to save the report.

FTP Upload

Allows you to save the report to a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server.

Settings

Allows you to specify the credentials for the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. The credentials specified for the FTP server only need to be configured once and will apply to the entire CommCell.

Choose Locale

Generates and/or saves the report in a language that can be different from that of the CommCell Console. The languages currently supported are listed in Languages - Support.

Use Alternative Date/Time Format

Allows you to select a Date and Time format in which dates and times appear in the report.
