Find All Subclients That Did Not Have Coverage During A Certain Time Period

To view all the subclients which do not have coverage in given time period:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Next to Job Status, clear the All option, and then select No Schedule.
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

View The Clients/Subclients That Were Not Backed Up

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Next to Job Status, clear All, and then select Failed.

  3. Click the Time Range tab, and then click Select Date/Time.
  4. Under View From, click Select Start Time, and then enter a date and time in the boxes.
  5. Under View To, click Select End Time, and then enter a date and time in the boxes.
  6. Click Run

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

View Scheduled Jobs That Were Skipped

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Next to Job Status, clear All, and then select No Run.

  3. Click the Time Range tab, and then click Select Date/Time.
  4. Under View From, click Select Start Time, and then enter a date and time in the boxes.
  5. Under View To, click Select End Time, and then enter a date and time in the boxes.
  6. Click Run

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Find All Jobs That Had A Problem Running

To view all the jobs which have issue in running (failed/killed/delayed jobs):

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Next to Job Status, clear the All option, and then select Failed, Killed, and Delayed.
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Find The Most Frequent Errors And Failure Reasons

To view the top most frequent errors (failure reasons), in a given time range:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Select Show most frequent errors, and then enter the number of most frequent errors that you want to see.

    For example, if you enter 3, then the 3 most frequent errors appear in the table.

  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Find Jobs That Have A Certain Number Of Failed Items

To view only jobs with failed items more than certain value:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Selection tab.
  2. Select Include Jobs With Failed Items Only, and then in the Jobs With Failed Items More than list, select the number of jobs.

    For example, if you select 5, then only jobs with 6 or more failed items appear in the report.

  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Find Information For Aged/Media Deleted/Backup Copy Jobs

To get aged/Media deleted jobs/backup copy jobs along with regular jobs:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Selection tab.
  2. Under Advanced, select any of the following options:
    • Aged Data
    • Include Media Deleted Jobs
    • Include Backup Copy Jobs
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

View the rate of change in data/application size

To view the data size differences in the applications of a subclient compared to other subclients with the same job type:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Options tab.
  2. Under Data Size, select any of the following and then specify a percentage:
    • Increase In Data Size By
    • Decrease In Data Size By
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Find the Last Job that Ran for Each Subclient

To view only the latest jobs for each subclient in a given time range:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Selection tab.
  2. Under Advanced, select For each subclient show only, and then select Latest Trend.
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Determine whether the client/subclient has enough data protection coverage

To view the coverage for each subclient in a given time range:

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Selection tab.
  2. Under Advanced, select For each subclient show only, and then select Coverage.
  3. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.

Include the Database Name and Size for SQL and Sybase Agents

To include the database name and size for SQL and Sybase agents in the Backup Job Summary Report, you must configure an additional setting.

  1. In the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommCell, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Additional Settings tab, and then click Add.
  3. In the Name box, type bIncludeProtectedDBSize.
  4. In the Category box, type Reports.
  5. From the Type list, select INTEGER.
  6. In the Value box, type 1.
  7. Click OK.

Run the Backup Job Summary Report

The amount of objects that appears in the list is limited to the number that you specify. The maximum number of protected objects that can appear in the report is 10,000.

  1. In the CommCell Console, click the Reports tab, and then click the Summary button.

    The Report Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Under Reports, select Job Summary.
  3. On the General tab, click Data Management, and then click Backup
  1. Click the Computers tab.
  2. Under Agent Types, click Modify.
  3. Clear the Include All Agent Types check box.
  4. In the Exclude list, select SQL Server, and then click Include.
  5. In the Exclude list, select Sybase Database, and then click Include, and then click OK.
  6. Click the Selection tab, and then select Protected Objects.
  7. Click Run.

    The report appears in the output format that you specified.
