Services - Available Services
The following table describes all of the services required by the different CommCell components.

|CommServe, MediaAgent and Client||Base Services||NetApp Communications Service||cvd||Provides the ability to fetch or save metadata on the CommServe when backup or restore are in progress. Communicates with the SMTP server if an email server is configured.|
|MediaAgent and Client||Base Services||NetApp Client Event Manager||EvMgrC||Forwards events generated on the local machine to the CommServe. In addition it helps the CommServe to browse the application data on local machine.|
|Client Only||Search Engine||NetApp Search Engine||GxSearchServer||Forwards events generated on the local machine to the CommServe and Web Server. In addition it helps to content index, search and preview the data.|
|Client Only||Compliance Search||NetApp Tomcat Service||GxTomcat||Responsible for communicating with Web Server services and receiving the events from Web Server.|
|CommServe Only||CommServe Services||NetApp Server Event Manager||EvMgrS||Responsible for communicating with the CommCell Console and receives the events from the Clients and/or MediaAgents. Communicates with the SMTP server if an email server is configured.|
|CommServe Only||CommServe Services||NetApp Application Manager||AppMgrSvc||Provides access to server and client configurations for local and remote processes. This service is essential for the CommServe.|
|CommServe Only||CommServe Services||NetApp Job Manager||JobMgr||Responsible for running and controlling jobs and also communicate with the available resources.|
|CommServe Only||CommServe Services||NetApp Media & Library Manager||MediaManager||Responsible for controlling the hardware devices that are part of a CommCell.|
|CommServe Only||CommServe Services||NetApp Commands Manager||QSDK||Responsible for servicing command line requests and is therefore essential for command line operations.|
|MediaAgent Only||MediaAgent Services||NetApp Media Mount Manager (GxMMM)||CVMountd||Responsible for interacting with the hardware devices that are attached to the local host and are part of the CommCell.|
|File System||HSM Recaller||NetApp HSM Recaller||GXHSMService||Responsible for archiving or recovering the files.|
|File Share Archiver Client||HSM Recaller||NetApp HSM NAS Recaller Service||GxSHM NTAP Recaller||Recalls files on a NAS share.|
|ContinuousDataReplicator Agents||CDR Services||NetApp Replication Service||CVRepSvc||Installed on Clients with ContinuousDataReplicator. Responsible for replicating data from one client computer to another client computer.|
|VSS Provider Agents||VSS Provider Service||NetApp VSS Provider Service||VSS_SWPROV_SVC||Makes use of the Volume Shadow Service feature of the Windows Server 2003 operating system.|
|Workflow||Workflow||NetApp Workflow Engine||CVJavaService.exe||Responsible for the Workflow engine. Communicates with the SMTP server if an email server is configured.|
|Web Console||Web Console||NetApp Tomcat Service||tomcat6.exe||Responsible for the Apache Tomcat server.|
|Client only (non-CommServe virtual machines)||Not managed by the Process Manager. Cluster Administrator must be used to control this service.||NetApp Cluster Plugin||GxClusPlugin||Provides notification regarding whether or not the cluster group goes into an active or passive state. This service is essential for system functionality.|
