Services - Getting Started

Services are used to communicate and transfer information within the computers in a CommCell. Services are automatically installed and started when you install a CommCell component. As soon as you install a component, you can view the services as described in the following sections.

Viewing Services on Windows

  1. Log on to a CommServe, MediaAgent or a client computer.
  2. Click Start and point to All Programs.
  3. Click NetApp, Inc. > Process Manager.
  4. From the Process Manager dialog box, view all the running services under the Services tab.

Viewing Services on UNIX

  1. Log on to a client computer as root.
  2. At the command line prompt, type the following command to list all the running services and press Enter.

    snapprotect -all list

    This will display a list of services running on the computer similar to the example shown below:

Viewing Services on Macintosh

  1. Log on to the computer with an administrator account.
  2. Navigate to the /Applications directory and launch Process Manager.

    Note: Currently supports English locale.

  3. From the Process Manager dialog box, view all the running services under the Services tab.

    Note: The instances drop-down list is displayed when multiple instances are running on the client.
