Configuring the Google Authenticator App

You can use the Google Authenticator app to generate the unique six-digit PIN that is required when Two-Factor Authentication is enabled.

Installing the Application

Install Google Authenticator on your device.

Before You Begin

Verify the operating system on your device is supported:

  • Android: 2.2 (Froyo) or higher
  • Apple: iOS 7.0

Procedure

  1. Go to the app store compatible with your device:
  2. In the Search box, type Google Authenticator, and then click the search icon.
  3. Install the application.

    Once installed, the application appears in your home screen.

Adding an Account

To add your CommCell account, enter an account name and your secret key into the application.

Note: You can add more than one CommCell account to the application. Each account needs its own secret key.

Before You Begin

You must have a secret key. For information on obtaining a secret key, see Two-Factor Authentication - Obtaining a Secret Key.

Procedure

  1. From your device, open the Google Authenticator app.
  2. Tap Begin Setup > Manual entry and enter the following details:
    • A name for the account, for example, Commvault or the name of your CommCell
    • The secret key provided in the email
  3. Tap the check mark icon.

Once you have registered an account, you are redirected to the home screen where you can see:

  • The PIN and your account.
  • The time remaining before the PIN expires. PINs are valid for 30 seconds.
