Overview

We recommend that you use the automatic update system for updating your CommCell.

However if you would like to manually install and manage the updates and service packs in your CommCell, here are some alternative methods of installing updates and service packs.

The following sections outline the steps for interactively installing the service pack.

Service Pack Installation

Windows

  1. Browse the folder where the executable service pack file decompressed the updates, and then double click SetupAll.exe.

If you have the installation package (that was created using the Download Manager), navigate to the Updates folder and double click InstallUpdates.exe. For example, if you are installing on a WIndows x64 computer, the InstallUpdates.exe should be located under the WinX64/Updates folder.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Select Install SnapProtect Service Pack.

  4. The installer is initializing the install process.

  5. The update install is in progress.

  6. Click OK to start services.

If you do not wish to start the services immediately, select Do not Start Services, and then click OK.

  7. Post-install processing is in progress.

  8. Click Finish.

If you are installing in a clustered environment, repeat this procedure on each physical node.

UNIX

If you have the installation package (that was created using the Download Manager), navigate to the Updates folder and run the InstallUpdates command.

For Macintosh, open the terminal window and type ./InstallUpdates.

  2. Services are stopped and the service pack installation starts.

Enter y to continue with the installation.

  3. Enter Y to start the services.

The service pack is installed and the CommServe database is updated.

If you are installing in a clustered environment, repeat this procedure on each physical node.
