CommCell/Client Computer/MediaAgent Properties (Security)

Use this dialog box to:

  • Identify the user groups to which this CommCell object is associated.
  • Associate this object with a user group.
  • Disassociate this object from a user group.
  • Enable the Privacy feature. (Client Level Only)

Prevent administrators from viewing or downloading your data (Client Level Only)

Enable this privacy option to prevent users and administrators who are not client owners from seeing the data on the client. Only a client owner may access data protected on the client, for example, perform Browse and Restore, Find, and Reference Copy operations. When this check box is selected or cleared, you must enter your log on password in the Privacy Settings dialog box.

Before client owners can use the Privacy feature on their clients, the Control Panel Prevent admin access to user data check box must be selected. For information on the Control Panel setting, see Enabling Privacy at the CommCell Level.

Available Groups

Displays the names of the user groups that are not associated with this CommCell object.

Associated Groups

Displays the names of user groups that are associated with this CommCell object. 

Automatically add New Users to the "View All" Group (CommServe Level Only)

Specifies that all new users will automatically be added to the View All user group. This group allows users to view all CommCell objects, regardless of the associations of the other user groups they belong to.

Require Authentication for Agent Installation (CommServe Level Only)

Enable this option to prompt users for authentication for any agent installation on the CommCell.

Client Owners (Client Level Only)

Specify a user to allow CommCell user access to this client computer through CommCell Console and allow permission to run Web Console browse and restore operations on this client. Each user must be listed in a separate line.

Client Owner Capabilities (Client Level Only)

Click to assign capabilities for the client owners using this computer.

Privacy Settings

Password

Your log on password must be entered when the Prevent administrators from viewing or downloading your data check box is selected or cleared. Leaving the Privacy Settings dialog box without entering a password keeps the Prevent administrators from viewing or downloading your data check box at its current setting.

Client Owner Capabilities

If accessed from a client computer, use this dialog box to establish or change the capabilities for the owners of this client computer.

If accessed from a client group, use this dialog box to establish or change the capabilities for the owners of client computers associated to this client group.

You must have the User Management capability in order to assign capabilities to the client owners.

Available Capabilities

Lists the capabilities that are not assigned to the client owners.

Assigned Capabilities

Lists the capabilities that are assigned to the client owners.

  • When you assign capabilities in a client group and notice that some have a grayed-out font, it means that those capabilities were preassigned at the CommCell level (for all client owners).
  • When you assign capabilities in a client computer and notice that some have a grayed-out font, it means that those capabilities were preassigned at the CommCell level and/or the client group level.

System Owner Capabilities

Use this dialog box to establish or change the capabilities for the system owners.

You must have the User Management capability in order to assign capabilities to the system owners.

Available Capabilities

Lists the capabilities that are not assigned to the system owners.

Assigned Capabilities

Lists the capabilities that are assigned to the system owners.

Assigning system owner capabilities (CommCell level capabilities) results in the capabilities assigned universally to all client owners. When clients are installed to this CommCell, they automatically inherit the capabilities set at this level.

Users Logged In

Use this dialog box to view the users that are currently logged into the CommServe through the CommCell Console or through the command line.

  • Login Name

    The name of the user that is currently logged in.

  • Host Name

    The host name of the client from where the user is logged in.

  • Logged In

    The time the user is logged into the CommServe.

  • Idle Time

    The amount of time the user has been inactive.

  • Console Type

    Indicates if the user has logged into the CommServe using the CommCell Console (GUI) or through the command line interface.

Refresh

Click to refresh the list of users that are currently logged in.
