Prerequisites

Array License

  • Local Copy license for Snap and Clone
  • Thin Provisioning license

Array Software

On the client and proxy computers:

  • Create a Host Affinity group for the proxy computer

On the Fujitsu ETERNUS DX array, ensure the following:

  • All members are running firmware version V10L22-1000 or higher
  • SMI-S is enabled
  • SDV and SDPV volumes are created if  you are using SnapOPC

Configure Destination Volumes

  • Forbid Advanced Copy and Encrypted volumes are not supported.
  • Depending on the type of snapshot being used, review the following for the creation of destination volumes:

    For Snap Snapshots

Specify a volume label via Volume Label Prefix array configuration. SnapOPC snapshots use any suitable SDV having name matching the label set through array config. If there are no suitable SDV available with the special name, the backup job will fail.

If you need to create a new SDV volume, ensure that the SDV volume is of equal size to the source volume. Make sure to keep volume name matching to volume label set through array configuration.

For example : if array config Volume Label Prefix is set as “iSnap_”. SDVs names qualifying this label are iSnap _01, iSnap _02, and iSnap _SDV15 etc.

    For Clone Snapshots

Preference is given to target volumes with a special name set by via Volume Label Prefix array configuration. If there are no suitable volumes with the special name, the backup job will fail. If there are more than one volumes with the special name, preference will be based on the source volume type. If source volume is a standard volume, preference will be given to standard volumes otherwise thin provisioning volume.

If array configuration Volume Label Prefix is not specified, destination volumes are automatically created for clone snapshots. If a non-existing device group is specified during array configuration in the CommCell Console, a destination volume is created based on the source volume type. However, if a valid device group is specified, the following destination volumes are created depending on the device group type:

    • A Thin Provisioning volume is created if the device group is a Thin Provisioning pool.
    • A standalone volume is created if the device group is a RAID group.
