Deploying Oracle Agents on Windows Platforms

Where to Install

Install the software on a Windows computer on which the Oracle server resides.

The computer will be added as a client in the CommCell as soon as the installation completes successfully.

Planning Your Installation

The software installation may require a system reboot if a pending rename operation from a previously installed application is found in the operating system. Plan the installation at a convenient time.

You must restart the Oracle services after the installation. The SnapProtect  software will automatically perform the restart when you select the Restart Oracle/DB2 Service (if applicable. Oracle DB2 instance needs to be restarted to load Simpana media library for Data Protection) option, when you use the CommCell Console method, or the Process Manager option when you use the Standard installations from the installation package method.

Before You Begin

If you use Oracle 12c, grant full control permission to the Oracle home user.

System Requirements

Verify that the computer in which you wish to install the software satisfies the minimum requirements specified in System Requirements.

Download Software Packages

Download the latest SnapProtect® software using the Download Manager application. The Download Manager bundles an installation package from the SnapProtect components that you chose to download. Use the installation package to launch the software installer on a client computer.

See Download Manager - Getting Started for instructions on creating an installation package.
