Marking Command Line Data and Log Only Backup Jobs as Full or Incremental for Oracle

You can mark a command line data or backup job as full or Incremental.

You can set this from the command line, or you can use an additional setting in the CommCell Console.

Procedure

Command Line

  1. Run the qlogin command to log on to the CommServe computer.

  2. To mark command line data incremental backup jobs or log only backup jobs as incremental (INCR):

    Insert the "JMOracleIsToConvert3rdPartyBkpLevel" additional setting by using the qoperation script.

    qoperation execscript -sn SetKeyIntoGlobalParamTbl.sql -si JMOracleIsToConvert3rdPartyBkpLevel -si y -si 1

  3. After this is executed, command line data incremental backups or log only backups are still marked as incremental.
  4. To mark jobs as full (FULL):

    Remove the "JMOracleIsToConvert3rdPartyBkpLevel" additional setting by using the qoperation script.

    qoperation execscript -sn SetKeyIntoGlobalParamTbl.sql -si JMOracleIsToConvert3rdPartyBkpLevel -si n

Additional Setting

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click CommServe and then click Properties.
  2. In the CommCell Properties dialog box, click the Additional Settings tab and then click Add.
  3. In the Add Additional Settings dialog box, enter the details for the additional settings:
    1. In the Name box, type JMOracleIsToConvert3rdPartyBkpLevel.
    2. In the Category box, select CommServeDB.GxGlobalParam.
    3. In the Type box, select Integer.
    4. In the Value box, type 1 to have the software convert the job to an incremental backup.
    5. Click OK to close the Add Additional Settings dialog box.
  4. Click OK to close the CommServe Properties dialog box.
