Running Pre-Post Processes before or after Backup Jobs

Configuring pre-post processes to run before or after a backup job is performed on the subclient. You can define these processes in a batch (.bat) file to run at scheduled intervals.

  1. Open the CommCell Console.
  2. In the CommCell Browser, expand SharePoint Server > database_backup_set.
  3. Right-click the subclient and click Properties.
  4. In the Subclient Properties dialog box, on the Pre/Post Process tab, choose when you want to run the pre-post processes:
    • To run the process before a backup operation:
      1. Under PostBackup process, click Browse to locate the .bat file that you want to run before the backup operation.
      2. Select the .bat file and click OK.

By default, the .bat file runs when a backup job is successful, killed, or failed.

    • To run the process after a backup operation:
      1. Under PostBackup process, click Browse to locate the .bat file that you want to run after the backup operation.
      2. Select the .bat file and click OK.
      3. Select the Run Post Backup Process for all attempts checkbox.
  5. Next to the Run As section, click Change.
  6. Select a user account with permissions to run the selected pre- or post-process:
    • To run the process as a SharePoint administrator for the site where the SharePoint server resides, select the Use Local System Account option and click OK.
    • To run the process as a different user:
      1. Click Impersonate User.
      2. Enter the appropriate user credentials in the User Name and Password boxes.
      3. Click OK.

If a user without permissions for running the pre or post processes is selected, the processes will fail.
