SharePoint Storage Manager: Troubleshooting

SP0009: Error message "Installrbs --- Exception while Installing, error code 1601"

Problem

Configuration of SharePoint Storage Manager on the front-end web servers failed. The following message appears in the CVSPRBSINstaller.log.

Installrbs --- Exception while Installing, error code 1601

Symptom

The SharePoint Timer Service account was not added to the local Administrators group.

Solution

Add the SharePoint Timer Service account to the local Administrators group and reboot the SharePoint Server.

SP0010: Unable to uninstall binary from the Global Assembly Cache (GAC)

Problem

Failure to install the SharePoint Storage Manager Agent.

Symptom

The installation might fail if you have the SharePoint Server Agent installed on all front-end web servers in the farm, but there is inconsistency in Global Assembly Cache (GAC) across all front-end web servers.

Solution

Connect to the front-end web servers in the farm and uninstall CVManagedLogger from the GAC by completing the following steps:

  1. Log in to the SharePoint Server with administrative privileges and open the Command Prompt window.
  2. Change the directory to the <SnapProtect Installation Folder>/Base folder, and type the following command:

    CVGACUtil.exe /u CVManagedLogger

SP0011: Failed to configure SharePoint Storage Manager for content database

Problem

During the configuration of SharePoint Storage Manager, one or all of the front-end web servers in the farm are not configured automatically.

Symptom 1

The CVSPRBSINstaller.log in the <SharePoint Hive>\LOGS\cvsprbsinstaller directory has the following entry:

CopyRBSFiles --- Exception Copying files: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path

Solution 1

Verify that users who are logged on to the web server can copy any file to the UNC path Remote BLOB Storage location without errors.

Symptom 2

The CVSPRBSINstaller.log in the <SharePoint Hive>\LOGS\cvsprbsinstaller directory has the following entry:

Installrbs --- Exception Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPUpdatedConcurrencyException: An update conflict has occurred, and you must re-try this action.

Solution 2

To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:

  1. In the SharePoint Central Administration, click Monitoring.
  2. On the Monitoring page, in the Timer Jobs section, click Check job status.
  3. On the Timer Job Status page, in the Timer Links section, click Job Definitions.
  4. On the Job Definitions page, click CVSP RBS Timer Job.
  5. On the Edit Timer Job page, click Run Now.
  6. After the job is complete, refresh the SharePoint Storage Manager page.

    The status of the previously failed front-end web server changes to Success.

SP0012: Error message "Installrbs --- Exception while Installing, error code 1622"

Problem

Configuration of SharePoint Storage Manager on the front-end web servers failed. The following log entry appears in the CVSPRBSINstaller.log.

Installrbs --- Exception while Installing, error code 1622

Symptom

The installer attempted to write to the rbs_install_log_Content DB Name.log file, but the folder where it resides does not have any Write permissions assigned to it.

Solution

To permit writing to the file, verify that the folder that contains the rbs_install_log_[Content DB Name].log file was assigned Write security permission.

SP0013: In-Place restore fails due to locked database

Problem

When you try to run a restore after selecting the Same Configuration checkbox, the following error message is displayed .

Error Code: [30:299]
Description: Query Result [Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException:Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.].

Symptom

The database is locked because it is in use.

Solution

Delete the web application and the content database. Then resubmit the restore job.

SP0014: Document-level backup operation completes with errors

Problem

The document-level backup job is completed with errors.

Symptom

The backup operation completes with errors if the Stub Recovery Parameters option is enabled on the File System Agent (where the BLOB storage is located). The backup job results in a series of file-level successive recalls on the BLOB storage. The backup operation exceeded the maximum number of successive recalls set for the specified time period.

Solution

From the File System Agent properties, clear the Stub Recovery Parameters checkbox.

SP0015: Content database restore operation completes with errors

Problem

The content database restore job is completed with errors.

Symptom

The restore operation completes with errors if the Stub Recovery Parameters option is enabled on the File System agent (where the BLOB storage is located). The backup job results in a series of file-level successive recalls on the BLOB storage. The backup operation exceeded the maximum number of successive recalls set for the specified time period.

Solution

From the File System Agent properties, clear the Stub Recovery Parameters checkbox.
