Subclient Properties (Advanced Options)

Note: For information on the IBM i File System Agent options, see IBM i File System Agent Subclient Properties of <subclient name> (Advanced Options).

Number of Data Readers

Use this space to specify the number of simultaneous backup data streams allowed for this subclient. For best performance, this should be set no higher than the number of physical drives that hold this subclient's data, except for specialized hardware such as RAID.

Note that all the options described in this help may not be available and only the options displayed in the dialog box are applicable to the agent for which the information is being displayed.

Allow multiple data readers within a drive or mount point

Specifies whether multiple data reads are allowed for a single Windows physical drive or Unix mount point during backups on this subclient. This should be selected only for specialized hardware such as RAID, or possibly in the case of spanned volumes.

Catalog additional file and system attributes

Allows you to enable collection of file and system data so you can create a report with the Build-Your-Own Reports feature or run the File Level Analytics Reports.

Optimized for File system with large number of small files (Block Level Backup)

Specifies the job as a Block Level backup, which backs up the blocks that contain data.

Create File Level Index during backup

If selected, the entire file system is scanned and metadata of all of the existing files is collected enabling file-level browse and restores.

Scan using

  • Recursive Scan

Select to specify that the classic file scan is used to determine whether files have been modified for all subclients within the backup set.

    Preserve File Access Time

If you select this option, the file access time is preserved and therefore not modified at the time of backup. Selecting this option may increase the time required to complete a backup. Note that the ctime (changes in the file properties) is modified when you select this option though incremental backups do not honor it.

  • Optimized Scan

Select to specify that Optimized Scan is used to determine whether files have been modified for all subclients within the backup set. Select this option when you want to scan large number of files and folders for the backup. The system maintains a separate database to track changes in the files.

Billable Entity

Select to specify a billable entity.
