Creating the Global Secondary Copy Policy
To consolidate backups from multiple storage policy copies on one media, you can create a global secondary copy policy by using the New Global Secondary Copy Policy wizard.
Alternatively, you can automate global secondary copy policy creation by using configuration XML. For more information, see Creating the Global Secondary Copy Policy Using the Command Line Interface.
Before You Begin
Ensure that a tape library is configured. For more information, see Creating a Tape Library.
Gather Global Secondary Copy Policy Data
Use the following table to gather the information required during global secondary policy creation.
|Global Secondary Copy Policy Name||Global secondary copy name.|
|Library||Name of the tape library. You can add additional libraries as a data path after the global secondary copy policy is configured.|
|MediaAgent||Name of the MediaAgent that has access to the library. Additional MediaAgents can be added once the global secondary copy policy is configured.|
- From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies.
- Right-click Storage Policies and then click New Global Secondary Copy Policy.
A Create Global Secondary Copy Policy Wizard opens. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
- Click Finish to create a global secondary copy policy.
The global secondary copy policy appears under the Storage Policies node.
