Opening Data Cube Data Sources in Build Your Own Reports

SnapProtect Build Your Own Reports is a powerful tool for creating visual representations of your data. From Data Cube, you can instantly import data from one source into Build Your Own Reports to create graphs, charts, and other visualizations of your data. You can also import one or more data sources from Data Cube into Build Your Own Reports to enable you to discover relationships between data residing in multiple different sources.

Before You Begin

  • You must be able to log in to the Web Console to view Data Cube. See Accessing the Web Console.
  • Only users assigned a role with the Data Connectors permission at the MediaAgent level can access Data Cube in the Analytics section of the Web Console. The associated MediaAgent must have been configured with Analytics Engine for Data Cube.
  • You must have connected to at least one data source. See Connect to Data Sources.
  • You must have crawled the data source. See Crawling Data Connections.
  • You must have deployed Build Your Own Reports in your CommCell environment. For more information, see Getting Started with Build Your Own Reports.
  • To create embedded reports, your CommCell user account requires a role with the Add Report permission (under Developer Tools) and an association with the CommCell entity, and the Query Datasource permission and an association with the Data Source entity that you will use.

Procedure

  1. In a Web browser, log in to the Web Console and then click Analytics.
  2. Click the data source heading for the type of data source you want to view.
  3. On the Data Sources (data source name) page, click the name of the data source that you want to use.
    • To visualize data from a handler:
      1. On the left side of the page under Data Connectors > data connector, click Handlers.
      2. In the Handlers table, under Action, click Visualize for the handler that you want to use.

        The Report Builder dashboard appears with the handler data under Data Sets.

    • To visualize data from a search view:
      1. On the left side of the page under Data Connectors > data connector, click Search.
      2. If you have created multiple search views for the data source, click the name of the search view you want to use.
      3. In the upper-right corner of the search view page, click Visualize.

        The Report Builder dashboard appears with the search view data under Data Sets.
