Before You Begin

Login to the CommCell Console as a user with CommCell level Administrative Management capability.

About The Task

A default Disaster Recovery Backup storage policy [CommServeDR (host name)] is automatically created when the first library is configured in the CommCell . The Deduplication for the Disaster Recovery Backup storage policy is not supported.

  •  If the first library configured is a disk library, the disaster recovery backup is automatically stored in the disk library. You can configure a disk library exclusively for disaster recovery backup data.

Note: If the disk library is also used by other backup operations, during recovery, you can use the Media Explorer tool to catalog and retrieve only the DR backups from the disk library.

A secondary copy of the disaster recovery backup data is created automatically when you configure the first tape library. An automatic auxiliary copy schedule is automatically created and it runs every 15 minutes. You can change the frequency of this auxiliary copy operation.

  • If the first library is a tape library, use special barcode ranges or colors for the media used for disaster recovery backup.

  1. In the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommServe, click Control Panel, and then click DR Backup.
  2. In the Export Settings tab of DR Backup Settings dialog box, do the following:
    • In the Backup Settings group, select a storage policy.

Select a DR Storage Policy to a remote disk library or tape library where tapes are exported offsite on a regular basis.

    • In the Wildcard Settings for Backup Log Files group, make sure cvd;SIDBPrune;SIDBEngine;CVMA logs are included.

By default, these logs are included in the DR Backup.
