Decommissioning the MediaAgent

After setting up and testing the new MediaAgent, you can decommission the old MediaAgent.

Procedure

  1. Remove old MediaAgent from the disk/cloud libraries the mount path.

    1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Storage Resources | Libraries | <Library>.
    2. Right-click the mount path, and then click Properties.
    3. Select the old MediaAgent, and then click Delete.
    4. Click OK.

      This will automatically remove old MediaAgent data path from all the Storage Policies that were associated with the old MediaAgent.

  2. Release a MediaAgent license.

    1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Storage Resources | MediaAgents.
    2. Right-click the old MediaAgent, and then click Release license for MediaAgent.
    3. In the Release License for MediaAgent dialog box, click Add All.
    4. Click OK.

      A message appears that asks if you want to release a license.

    5. Click Yes.
  3. Delete the MediaAgent.

    1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Storage Resources | MediaAgents.
    2. Right-click the old MediaAgent, and then click Delete MediaAgent.

    3. Click Yes.
    4. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers.
    5. Right-click the old MediaAgent client, point to All Tasks, and then click Delete.

      A message appears that asks if you want to delete the client permanently.

    6. Click OK.

      A message appears that asks if you want to delete the client.

    7. Type erase and reuse media, and then click OK.
