Recovering from Fibre Channel SAN Data Server Disaster
You can perform disaster recovery if the Fibre Channel SAN data server becomes inoperable or inaccessible. Following are the high level processes required to run disaster recovery.
- Procure a new SAN data server that has the same hardware setup as that of the old inaccessible one server.

- Ensure that the disk library that was created for the old SAN data server is put on the maintenance mode.

- Install the same Service Pack of MediaAgent and SAN Storage Server on the new data server that was installed on the old data server.
Ensure that during installation, you select the MediaAgent and the SAN Storage Server.

- After installing the MediaAgent, download the SCST driver and the SCST Util from cloud.commvault.com and copy them on the SAN data server.
Unzip the zipped folder, and navigate to cd_update.
Install the update in the Software_Installation_Directory\opt\snapprotect\FibreMAAgent directory.
Important: Ensure that you download the same driver version that was installed on the old data server from cloud.commvault.com.
- Create the same mount points that were there on the old data server.
For example: If on the old data server, volume /backup/test/all_data_vol101 is mounted on /all_data_fcv1, then on the new data server, create same mount points.
- Map all the SAN volumes from all the disk arrays that were mapped to the old data server to the new data server.
- Disconnect the old data server from the CommServe and ensure that SAN LUNs or volumes of only the new data server are accessible from the CommServe.
- Enable the disk library that is put on maintenance mode and perform client backups.

Important: Before you run the backups ensure that you are able to see the CVLT_FIO disks that are exported from the SAN data serve. For more information, see Verify CVLT_FIO Disks.
