Formatting Data in Components for Build Your Own Reports

You can configure the format for displaying data in charts.

Before You Begin

  • To build and deploy reports, your CommCell user account requires a role with the Add Report permission and an association with the CommCell entity.

Procedure

  1. On the Web Console for the Private Metrics Reporting Server, click Reports.

    The Worldwide Dashboard appears.

  2. To open a report where you have already added a data set, at the top of the page, click Worldwide Reports > Report Manager , and on the Reports tab, next to the Report Name under Actions, click Edit.
  3. Optional: If your report has multiple pages, click the tab for the page that you want to edit.
  4. Optional: If your report has multiple pages, click the tab for the page that you want to edit.
  5. Add and configure any of the following component types:
  6. Select the table, chart, or other component, and on the Properties tab, click Fields .
  7. Access the formatting options for charts, tables, or other components:
    • For charts:
      • Under Measure, next to Formatter, click None.
      • Under Dimension, next to Formatter, click None.
    • For columns, expand the Column Name and next to Cell Expression, click None.

    • For other components, next to Formatter, click Custom.

    The Formatter dialog box appears.
  8. Configure formatting for any of the available types of data:
    • To format the appearance of Boolean data, configure these settings:
      • In the Type list, select Boolean.
      • In the Format list, select Tick/Cross.
    • To format the appearance of dates, configure these settings:
      • In the Type list, select Date.
      • In the Format list, select any of the available options.

        For example: MM-DD-YYYY.

    • To format the appearance of numeric data, configure these settings:
      • In the Type list, select Number.
      • In the Format list, select any of the available options.

        For example: Comma Separated.

    • To format the appearance of size data, configure these settings:
      • In the Type list, select Size.
      • In the Source is in list, select the current size format of the data.
      • In the Target should be in list, select the size format that you want to display.

  9. Click Apply.

    The data appears in the format that you specified.

  10. To save this version of your report specification in the Reports Manager, at the top of the Report Builder page, click Save.
  11. To make the report available to end users on the Reports page, at the top of the page, click Deploy.
