Browsing Data from the Web Console

By default, the latest backups are displayed when you browse the backup data of a computer in the Web Console. You can perform the following browse operations:

By default, the size of each backed up file or folder is listed along with the browse results. To generate a size distribution pie chart for the backed up data, click the   pie chart icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. The pie chart  shows the nine largest entities (files and folders) sorted by size (largest first), followed by a tenth item showing the sum of the remaining entities. To view the size distribution of data in a specific folder, click the corresponding pie chart section.

Browse Data from a Specific Date

  1. From the Web Console, click My Data.

  2. Click the Computers tab.
  3. Click the computer_name that contains the data you want to browse.

    Alternatively, you can click Show Details for the computer containing the data that you want to browse and click Select Files under the Restore section.

  4. From the Restore Files page, click Showing latest backups and select Show backups as of a specific date.
  5. Select the date of the backup and click OK.

    The backups that were run on the date you selected will be displayed on the page.

Browse Data from a Specific Date Range

  1. From the Web Console, click My Data.

  2. Click the Computers tab.
  3. Click the computer_name that contains the data you want to browse.

    Alternatively, you can click Show Details for the computer containing the data that you want to browse and click Select Files under the Restore section.

  4. From the Restore Files page, click Showing latest backups and select Show backups for a date range.
  5. Specify the date range—the time period that you want to see the backup jobs for, and click OK.

    The browse window will refresh and show the backups from the specified date range.

Browse Live Data (Live Browse)

Use the Web Console to browse the entire contents of your computer. Using this operation, you can see all of the files and folders on your computer, both backed up and non-backed up data.

When you browse live data, you can:

  • download files and folders (file preview is not available)
  • upload one or more files to a new or existing folder

Before you Begin

Ensure that your administrator has assigned you the required permissions to browse live machine data.

Procedure

  1. From the Web Console, click My Data.

  2. Click the Computers tab.
  3. Click the computer_name that contains the data you want to browse.

    Alternatively, you can click Show Details for the computer containing the data that you want to browse and click Select Files under the Restore section.

  4. From the Restore Files page, click Showing latest backups and then select Show live machine data.
  5. Click one of the drives (for example, C:) to see all of the files and folders that reside in it.

    Navigate to the files/folders that you want to download, create a new folder and upload files in it, or upload some files to an existing folder. See Download and Upload for more information on these operations.

Hiding Deleted Data during Browse

When data from previous backups has been deleted, you can hide the deleted items from the browse view using the following steps:

  1. From the Web Console, click My Data.

  2. Click the Computers tab.
  3. Click the computer_name that contains the data you want to browse.

    Alternatively, you can click Show Details for the computer containing the data that you want to browse and click Select Files under the Restore section.

  4. From the Restore Files page, click Hide Deleted Items button located at the top-right of the page.
