Hardware Specifications for CommServe

The following hardware requirements are for CommServe installed on either physical or virtual machines. For comprehensive information on the below requirements, see System Requirement for CommServe.

Enterprise

Supports up to 20,000 servers or 50,000 laptops in a single CommCell

  • 16 CPU cores
  • 32 to 64 GB RAM
  • 300 GB of enterprise class SSD or PCI-E card disk space for CommServe database
  • The required IOPS are achieved by SSD storage, there is no need to run Iometer tool to measure the IOPS
  • Example - Enterprise class SSDs in RAID 5 configuration with one hot spare
Data Center

Supports up to 2500 servers or 10,000 laptops in a single CommCell

  • 12 CPU cores
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 300 GB of disk space for CommServe database
  • 320+ IOPS with single worker thread
  • 1000+ IOPS with eight worker thread
  • Example - Eight, 144 GB, 15K RPM SAS drives, RAID 10
Work Group

Supports up to 1000 servers or 5000 laptops in a single CommCell

  • 8 CPU cores
  • 16 to 32 GB RAM
  • 150 GB of disk space for CommServe database
  • 220+ IOPS with single worker thread
  • 600+ IOPS with eight worker thread
  • Example - Four, 144 GB, 15K RPM SAS drives, RAID 10
Express

Supports up to 25 servers or 50 laptops in a single CommCell, including MediaAgents

  • 4 CPU cores
  • 8 to 16 GB RAM
  • 100 GB of disk space for CommServe database
  • 200+ IOPS with single worker thread
  • 350+ IOPS with eight worker thread
  • Example - Two, 144 GB, 15K RPM SAS drives, RAID 1
